I have been proud to be gaining recognition for my versatility across many musical genres recently recognized by Broadway World for having a “glorious tenor voice that melts maidens’ hearts” and for acting that is “punchy, romantic, [and] always connecting to the audience” by The Times Herald Record.

I made my National Tour début with Waitress and subsequently joined the cast of the National Tour of The Phantom of the Opera in which I had the great opportunity to don the mask as The Phantom in select performances.  In 2020, I joined the National Tour of Les Misérables in the iconic role of Jean Valjean.

Prior to my National Tour engagements, I performed in countless New York and Regional Theater productions in which critics responded with rave reviews. I starred as the title role in Jesus Christ Superstar at Bristol Valley Theater and Johnny in Night Tide for the New York Musical Festival (NYMF). Additionally, I was thrilled to cover the title role in Bernstein’s Candide at New York City Opera directed by Hal Prince and performed the role of Laurie in Little Women with Bob Jones University, subsequently returning as Fredrick Barret in Titanic: The Musical.

The acting gene hit young for me as I made my New York City début as Young Scrooge in A Christmas Carol: The Musical at Madison Square Garden and soon after appeared at The York Theatre (Monet, Goodbye Barcelona), The Minetta Lane Theatre (Where the Lillies Bloom), and The Gallery Players (Parade), among many others. Throughout the United States, I have had the opportunity to perform in such venues as Goodspeed Opera House (Genesis: The Musical), Bristol Riverside Theatre (The Pirates of Penzance), Ivoryton Playhouse (Footloose), and as a soloist with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts.

I also had the privilege of touring the world as Walt Disney’s ‘Prince Charming,’ and starred as the Phantom in the hit concert Now and Forever: The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. Television credits include Ray in Nickelodeon’s Radio Free Nutley and Prince Charming in Disney Land TV’s Disney Cruise Line.

I am proud to have received a Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre from of The Hartt School of Music at The University of Hartford.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

OMAHA WORLD HERALD

Preston Truman Boyd presents Javert effortlessly with solid vocals and no hint of overplaying his part. His confrontation with Valjean (Patrick Dunn) at Fantine's bedside is the most fully charged number in the show.

Dunn's impressive vocal range and the depth of his performance develops throughout the show from an overly passionate demonstration of anger in Soliloquy to tender fatherly concern for Cosette and Marius.

SPRINGFIELD NEWS-LEADER

Patrick Dunn cuts a handsome figure as Jean Valjean, the saint-like man imprisoned for 19 years for stealing a loaf of bread, then attempting to escape his unjust punishment.

Dunn's resonant tenor brings life to all his numbers, from the ardent "Soliloquy" and "Who Am I?" to a tender account of "Bring Him Home." Gently touching the highest notes of the score's most famous song, Dunn imbues the prayer-like plea with rapt sincerity rather than vocal bravura.

BWW.COM - CINCINATTI

Patrick Dunn is a supernova as Jean Valjean. The role of Jean Valjean is arguably one of the most demanding roles in all of musical theatre. He is in nearly every scene, has one of the largest vocal ranges, and has an intensely rich character arc.

Dunn navigates it all flawlessly. Every acting choice made pairs perfectly with the vocal dynamics, as it's all sung through. Every time he was on the stage, I couldn't help but be drawn to watch him.
